Bluefrog - The Prostate Cancer Charity: Sorry, Must Dash...
Designer Comment: Felix Davey/Tom Fincham
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. It kills one man every hour. We wanted to use a very public space to draw attention to this mysterious gland, and to highlight one of the early symptoms of a dangerous disease. Making a connection between dashing for the loo and running for the bus will, we hope, make more men stop, read and get a check-up.

As a cured(!) sufferer I know the problem needs all the publicity it can get.
tony | 20 July 2009
Too many still die because they are diagnosed too late. The treatments only work if applied in time. Dash for your OSA before it is too late.
Dinesh Soree | 09 July 2009
Very effective way of making men aware of this terrible disease
Roger | 01 July 2009
Well done everyone who voted for this entry and commiserations to the other challengers and in particular the MAG entry which is undoubtedly a very worthwhile cause.
James | 01 July 2009
June has ended and yet voting still goes on ?
Kirsten Tresidder | 30 June 2009
Keep fingers crossed as this exposure is long over due. I lost my gentle kind Dad at a young age to this disease - only to find out it had been in his body for 10 years prior without his knowledge (or more importantly awareness).
Mic | 30 June 2009
An excellent way of bringing this to peoples notice. Its not something discussed untill it directly affects someone you are close to.
Mick | 27 June 2009
I have friend diagnosed with no symptoms so awareness of prostate cancer is key.

A great way to make people more aware
Having mine checked next month
Richard | 25 June 2009
The BBC are reporting today that up to 15,000 people aged over 75 may be dying unnecessarily from cancer each year in the UK. Over 7,000 men over 75 are dying each year from prostate cancer in the UK. Many of these deaths would be preventable if the cancer was diagnosed earlier. Keep on voting and increase awareness.
ron leagas | 24 June 2009
I told you your votes would count!! Thanks to everyone on my address list. And when it comes to the final ad, display the URL strongly, you can't get he whole message across on a bus side but you can on a website
Grant Martin | 24 June 2009
If I'd known this, and gone to see my GP earlier, maybe my prostate cancer would have been found before it became incurable.
Barry Newman | 24 June 2009
I had no symptoms but was diagnosed over 10 years ago when having a check on something else and my wonderful doc. ran a PSA test. Had radiotherapy and here I am living life to the full. THANKS to a PSA test, make your vote and voice count.
Steve A | 24 June 2009
Great idea to promote prostate cancer which has far too low a profile but kills 10,000 men each year in the UK
mick | 23 June 2009
This bus side really works well. Simple message with a bit of humour. Excellent !
Max | 22 June 2009
Great add !!
hermine | 22 June 2009
Bonne chance Thomas et ton groupe. Bises hermine
Gerry | 22 June 2009
Every 16 minutes a man is diagnosed with prostate cancer in Britiain. - 10,000 die in the UK every year as a direct result of the disease. - Prostate cancer can be cured when treated in its early stages. VOTE for the Prostate Cancer Charity
Phil | 22 June 2009
Nice one !!
Ken | 22 June 2009
Good idea for an important issue. Prostate cancer needs much more awareness.

AROUND 35,000 MEN WILL BE DIAGNOSED WITH PROSTATE CANCER THIS YEAR and 10,000 MEN WILL DIE OF THE DESEASE. Vote for the PCC !!
Sally Lewis | 20 June 2009
What an excellent way of educating men about the importance of getting 'checked out'. My husband had no symptoms whatsover and was diagnosed with pc as a result of a random PSA test in a company medical!
jonh b. | 19 June 2009
Let hope we win it...but like "Julie 05 June" says needs be be harder hitting..think her statement says it all !
Janet | 18 June 2009
My husband and his brother both have PC this is a great charity I hope you win
Janet
James | 17 June 2009
Phong Tran erm this is the comments for the bluefrog campaign page.
Phong Tran | 16 June 2009
Great! I love this way of ad. Hope MAG can win to complete its missions!
Thirza | 15 June 2009
In loving memory of Alexander McDonald-Lawosn. Let's make a difference.
Karen Lamb | 15 June 2009
A fantastic design, luckily our family has not been touched by prostate cancer but it is a silent killer and something that needs to be made aware of.
Joan | 14 June 2009
In memory of my workmate Doug...survived WW2 as an Orliken gunner on The Belfast, but succumbed to this horrible insidious disease.
Tam Hewitt | 13 June 2009
I am proud to be associated with the PCC please keep voting as the charity needs all the publicty it can get
Allister Murphy | 13 June 2009
I was diagnosed at 51 with incurable prostate cancer spread to bone (yet no symptoms). A PSA test a few years earlier might have made all the difference
Herts Provincial G Almoner | 13 June 2009
so many of us had the problem without knowing it due to ignorance. PSA and awareness are the only answers available. Lets be No1 with the vote and help others.
Phil | 12 June 2009
I have had PCa for 8 years,I had no symptoms and without me asking my GP for a PSA test after reading an article on my 50th Birthday I wouldn't be here now.
PCC does so much and is an invaluable scource of information and support, not just for us guys, but our loved ones too.
Good Luck.
Andrew | 12 June 2009
The more aware we are the better!
Let's have more ads.
Ryan | 12 June 2009
Great creative - it does more than generate awareness, it prompts men into action. Too often awareness adverts merely highlight another media to get information (web address) from, whereas this creative asks men to act without being patronising. Simple and effective.
Henry Porter | 11 June 2009
All men whatever age should have a yearly PSA test.I do.
Stafford Scholes | 11 June 2009
As an ex-Londoner with terminal Prostate Cancer, I am all for your campaign!
Alan Sweet | 11 June 2009
Bloody good cause gets my vote
James | 11 June 2009
The cause is good. The contest is based creativenwss and for me it scores on that count with the touch of humour involved and the striking imagery relating to the British toilet humour.....Well done and attention grabbing.
Margaret Bonthrone | 11 June 2009
Don't leave it too late get tested. If it is in your family you are in danger of getting it. My husband had no symptons but is now on cheamotherapy and strontiun 89 because it is spreading through his bones. If caught early you can live for many years.
john phillips | 11 June 2009
I 'beat' this horrible disease three years ago because it was caught early, awareness via posters of this kind, will save lives. Good luck with a great campaign, you deserve to win.
sylvie derrick | 10 June 2009
It killed my father in law and several friends. Bring it out into the open, it's not something to be ashamed to talk about. The more that see this sign, the more will visit their doctors. Publicity WILL save lives.
Liz | 10 June 2009
It killed my father and my uncle, and, unless I can get through to him to have the tests, it may very well kill my lovely brother.
Pauline | 10 June 2009
This is a very important campaign, keep voting folks!
Sara | 10 June 2009
This has to win, not only a really thought-provoking ad, but a crucial campaign. A visit to the GP saved my dad's life.
Richard | 10 June 2009
Over 10,000 men die of prostate cancer each year in the UK. Vote every day to help to increase awareness and hopefully help to reduce this number in the future.
Justin S | 10 June 2009
This has to win. Keep voting to save lives!!
B Berry | 09 June 2009
Great ad and its a must. Have a psa test it could save your life . It did mine and I had no symtoms other than a psa of 9.
Jim Steel | 09 June 2009
Great advert - just at that time in life when things should be easing off, but take a few minutes to make that vital visit to your GP - it may save you life
andy Purcell | 09 June 2009
Good luck
James | 08 June 2009
congrats to the designer for a poster that gives us something to chase the votes for.
Anthony Odhams | 08 June 2009
At last a straightforward message that should help drive home the danger and raise awareness. It should also be a poster in public conveniences and GP's surgeries. Take it from one who knows!
Elaine Holmes | 08 June 2009
Great advert should attract attention to this horrible disease
jose fonseca | 08 June 2009
anything that makes people more aware of the possibility of getting prostate cancer is great
Peter Smith | 08 June 2009
This advice enabled my cancer to be cured. 6 months later and it could have been a very different story! So, as the ad says 'Dont' delay'.
John Reid | 08 June 2009
I had read about the PSA test from American Web Pages and decided to have the test done. I was subsequently diagnosed with prostate cancer and currently undergoing treatment. If I had not been checked at this early stage then the possibility of a cure from this disease would be very small. Raising awareness of prostate cancer is essential, particularly with males in their 50s. I am 53. Good luck with winning.
James | 07 June 2009
If only this had been entered earlier. It is a good poster, is impressing people to attract votes but has a problem chasing older entries with an already established vote. Still their shares have been falling.

good way to create awareness!!

Thanks for doing this
Darryl Mitteldorf, LCSW | 05 June 2009
Smart ad. Well done from Malecare www.malecare.com , the United States Prostate Cancer support and advocacy nonprofit.
Ray | 05 June 2009
This is a clever ad. I really hope that it wins. Well done and good luck.
roger thompson | 05 June 2009
an early sign, as well as the frequent need to urinate, is the burning sensation, like passing bleach or acid!-------- if you get this GO AND TELL YOUR DOCTOR AND DEMAND A P.S.A test. you have everything to gain and nothing to lose!!-- on the positive side it is a slow-growing cancer and if you are in your late sixties or over, the likely treatment is an injection at six monthly intervals. at this age you will die of natural causes before the problem becomes problematic. I opted for surgery at 58 and it was a messy failure and so i had radiotherapy which has held it in check. I go for a PSA test every six months and so far (touch wood) things are fine.
julie | 05 June 2009
Good place for an ad, but the ad itself is FAR too weak. It should say 'Prostate cancer kills a man every hour - but caught early it's curable. Get your GP to test you NOW, and save your own life.'
No point footline around with clever ads - spell home the DANGER and the PREVENTION.
Carla | 05 June 2009
This is a great message about the most common cancer in men in the UK, that few people know about. Such a clever execution, relevant to the Bus medium. Thanks to everyone who has voted so far. Please keep up the good work!
Great cause, great creative.
sue walton | 05 June 2009
anything which highlights the possibilityof making more people aware of cancer gets my vote. i am a cancer widow.
yinka | 05 June 2009
Its time prostate cancer awareness reaches every street via the bus platform, so both men and women get the alert.
Alan/art | 05 June 2009
A strong advert but because of the limitations on the text it cannot also say that many men do not have symptoms when they have prostate cancer. These are the ones who are diagnosed when the cancer has advanced and treatment becomes more difficult. Perhasps the Bluefrog team could expand their "Designer comments" to pick upon this point - some entries have extensive comments from the designer - make the most of that space.
Simon | 04 June 2009
nice work!
mitz | 04 June 2009
May be a WEE ad, but it will have a phenonMENal impact on many mens lives and for The Prostate Cancer CHARITY who do such a great job - better than the NHS!
Malcolm | 04 June 2009
35,000 men being diagnosed each year with prostate cancer deserves at least 35,000 votes. Plus it's a clever ad !
Peter L | 04 June 2009
Hits the mark - I like it.
Ron | 04 June 2009
The need to urinate more often is one of the symptoms of prostate cancer. And one of the main problems is that men don't know the symptoms which is why this advert is so important. There's more info on the prostate cancer charity website amongst other places.
Jenny Briscoe | 04 June 2009
Great Ad and very effective and it gets my vote!

jenny | 04 June 2009
rather confusing creative message. thought it was the constant sensation of needing to go. not simply the need to go.
Anita Oakes | 03 June 2009
looks like PCa charity is up against an ad against Landmines and a pet photography service - come on everyone - tell all your friends to vote - let's get Prostate Cancer awareness out on the streets !!!
GOS | 03 June 2009
Great charity, doing the governments job of raising awareness of the second biggest killer of men. Government please note AWARENESS is NOT screening which is what you seem to argue against every time action for AWARENESS is raised
Janice k | 03 June 2009
Great ad on a very important matter that surprisingly few younger but still at risk men are AWARE of. Well done!!!
PatC | 03 June 2009
I love this advert and as a small Charity it could not afford to pay for its own advert so Keep Voting Folks Men need as much info as possible
Mike | 03 June 2009
As a NED of a Primary Care Trust I know how important it is to get this message out. This creative will do the trick
Stacey | 03 June 2009
I agree with you James too many men are suffereing and not enough is being done. I know that the Prostate Cancer Research Centre will be launching an awarness campaign very soon and are looking for case studies. www.prostate-cancer-researcn.org.uk
Charles Gordon Seymour | 03 June 2009
I have prostrate cancer and have had radio theraphy and on zoldex. It was discovered at my annual physical through PSA blood test!
Colin C | 03 June 2009
10,000 men die of prostate cancer each year in the UK but has a very low profile and awareness. This is an exceleent way to get the message across.
Becky | 03 June 2009
Hope you get all the support you need, i'll be sure to pass the link onto everyone i know to help raise awareness
HIlary | 03 June 2009
more adverts are required nationally directed towards men about prostate disease generally to get men thinking about their health
JC | 03 June 2009
Simple yet effective - as the designer says it draws attention to a mysterious gland. I hink many people who have misconceptions of prostate cancer and anything to tackle this serious issue is advantageous.

Clever enough to make men question symptoms but witty enough to ensure that it isn't too scary to deal with. Good Luck!
Ian Liston | 02 June 2009
I have Prostate cancer and know how hard it is to persuade men to see sense about getting early treatment. This charity provides enormous information and support to men both pre and post diagnosis. A terrific Ad and it gets my vote!
James Nicolson | 02 June 2009
A vital campaign for an ignored cancer that kills 10,000 men a year. The site is about the best for support and info and the advert gets the message across.
Lucy Fox | 02 June 2009
A great way to get men questionning their everyday behaviour
Janice Jeffreys | 02 June 2009
My father and two of my uncles have Prostate Cancer. Myself and some friends are trying to raise awareness and funds for our local hospitals which will benefit the men that are diagnosed - we really didn't know how common this cancer was and we want to make a difference
