beautiful world - Three at once

Designer Comment: Simon Frank/Chris Mayhew

Bullying is often well hidden, so it's great to use a medium as public as bus sides to expose it. We heard of a little boy who committed suicide after being bullied on the school bus - anything that can be done to stop more tragedies like that happening must be positive thing. It's always more memorable if you can connect your line with what people are staring at in some way as well.

I think it should say something about reporting the bullying. Most people forget or are not willing to report bullying. "Tell Someone. It's not your fault, And they CAN help"

I work with young children and this is perfect. It's simple, gets the message across and it takes great skill to produce something this effective. I will certainly be using this throughout the school to promote anti bullying. Well done, you designers - at last someone who's in touch!

Comment

Lisa | 17 June 2009

An important issue but I don't think the most has been made of this opportunity. I think a child wouldn't quite understand what the sentence means so wouldn't pursue the message/contact info. Should be simpler

i think this is very powerfull.i also, would like to see it expanded as bullying happens around comminutys out side school hours .and makes children prisoners in there own homes through fear of playing out,so go go go and stop these cowardly bullys,

This medium is ideal and relevant for this message in view of the amount of bullying that occurs on school buses and public transport. This one gets our vote because it is a worthy cause.

Comment

Howard Lake | 01 June 2009

Very appropriate medium for this campaign. Bullying goes on in many places of course, but I imagine many people can remember it happening to them or their friends on a bus. I certainly can. Well done Beautiful World and Bullying UK.

Michael - Thanks for the observation with the URL we do support both ww w. and bullying.co. uk I think it's important to remember that not everyone understands a URL without www. + from a technical point we would have to add http: // to replace the www. as some mobile phones don't translate addresses without a way to identify it's a port:80 url such as ww w. or http: //

I for one will love the day we can drop www. but for now to allow the largest cross section of society to access our award winning advice and service it needs to be that way.

Pete and Eddy. Bitter men with bitter comments. Care to direct us to your own efforts so we can learn how it should be done?

Comment

Aly Gynn | 29 May 2009

I think it is brilliant. Many ad agencies would use the cliche of 3 buses at once for advertising sex, hoover bags or sofas - but knowone has. When 'good causes' which effect everyone need to be communicated - the efforts are often trashed because they are 'too political, boring or banner waving' - this is cute, succinct, clever and - I suspect, downright effective.

Comment

Michael | 29 May 2009

Does it really need to say "www." infront of the web address when it could have a more bold statement instead?

Comment

Laurence Robb | 29 May 2009

Yeah! No bullies! They can hide anywhere.

Comment

Miranda Stork | 29 May 2009

As someone who was bullied continually through school, I think this is a fantastic cause-but what happened with the ad? It isn't very original, it isn't really hard-hitting enough, and it doesn't really advertise that you're trying to prevent bullying. It simply states that it exists. Any kid being bullied will look at that and wonder if it's a site for them or the bullies......

Comment

Pete | 29 May 2009

Another 'good cause' ad taking the voting by storm.
Good cause, poor ad, maybe the creators have posted a link on an anti bullying site to gain extra votes... similar to the tactics of the MAG 'clear landmines' ad, another poor example of creativity.
Must try harder.

Comment

Eddy Jones | 29 May 2009

Maybe there should be follow-up versions with pictures of people in suits, men in overalls, nurses and doctors, people in a canteen, etc to show that it's not just children who suffer bullying. Having learnt how to spot them, you realise how many there are around!

Well done on your good work; keep it up.

When Beautiful World approached Bullying UK about the competition we thought it was the perfect chance to get across a very powerful message about Bullying on the bus network, Ben Vodden committed suicide at age 11 due to bullying on his school bus and Beautiful World have created a message that will raise awareness that bullying can happen anywhere not just in the schools and playgrounds across the UK

Comment

Many young people will be able to relate to being bullied on the bus. I hope this campaign would let them know we're looking out for them & that bullying is a cowardly act.
